The Mansfield Station Precinct All Abilities Play and Adventure Play space integrates local history, culture and ecology into its nature-based play journeys and offers a tourism destination for families.

This iconic and innovative play experience at the historic terminus of the Mansfield railway will provide multiple play experiences for both community and visitors to the High Country. Our design was inspired by local micro-climatic conditions and the site's history as the end of the journey for train travellers to the Victorian High Country from October 1891 to November 1978.

To create a unique site narrative for community and visitors, we created a custom design for the central and feature play element of the site. This element, a transformed steam train, will allow children of all abilities to engage with the history of the site.

We believe this play space captures the design intent for an all-ages, all-abilities playground that has both complexity and diversity in play elements, integration with the natural and built surrounds as well as inclusiveness for all users. As always, we considered seasonal changes and comfort for this site.
