Accessible, exploratory play was the focus of our design for the Joy Avenue Preschool.

Designed to enrich the children's experience of the outdoors and provide more opportunities to explore, the client wanted the inclusion of native plants, in particular bush tucker plants, in this natural play space.

Our design addressed the difficulties of access on a sloping site and proposed the use of gravel play and an accessible path that connects the play equipment. The additional boulder play equipment and net bridge link the existing equipment with the new path. Further opportunities for exploratory play are provided by the sensory, vegetable and native garden beds.

Our brief included concept design, draft detailed design and construction drawings. It also included project management and procurement of sub-consultants and contractors.
