Euroa Nature Play Space.
Client: Strathbogie Shire Council
Description
Category: Public Space | Play Space | Community Space
The Euroa Nature Play space will provide a regional level natural play space that welcomes all ages and abilities and serves both residents and visitors to the Strathbogie Shire. Located in Sevens Creek Park, our design has integrated local history, culture and ecology into the play journey. The new space will allow multiple play adventures with its low-level play space for younger children and iconic play tower where older children can have create their own adventures.
Its location is rich in natural, cultural and history. The natural habitat of Seven Creeks supports the local flora and fauna that provided abundant resources for indigenous communities. In later years the local ecology stimulated the development of agriculture and grazing industries, providing jobs and attracting people to the growing town.
This project provided an opportunity to rethink the cultural and historical connections between the land, residents and tourists. Our design references these connections and was informed by the site topographic conditions (including seasonal flooding).
Our brief included concept design, draft detailed design and construction drawings.
