Framing Pavilion.

Description

Category: Competition Entry | Lookout

Inspired by spectacular views to the coast and city below, the Framing Pavilion allows visitors the opportunity to fully experience the rich biodiversity of the surrounding environment.

Created from tempered glass and contrasting steel elements, the cantilevered platform acts as a scenic gallery where corten steel frames the stunning views. Strategically placed seating provides opportunity for visitors to sit in front of an everchanging 'painting' of the natural world, a place where they can stop, look and reflect.

Designed across two levels, the visitor enters through the upper-level viewing platform where they can choose one of two arms that wrap around a large tree. The lower arm will take them down to a framing platform where corten steel 'frames' capture the view and light filters through the steel grated walkway to the forest floor below. If they choose the upper arm they walk out across the steel grated walkway to the glass bottomed framing platform, where they can step into the frame for that perfect, adventurous selfie.
