Description

Category: Play Space | Childcare

Using natural materials such as rocks, wood and plants we designed this outdoor play space to accommodate the growth and development needs of children of different ages.

Children aged 0-2 years can use the little cluster mounds and local tools to help them find their feet, transitioning through the developmental stages and finally walking. The small sensory garden and tactile materials will help them develop their senses and curiosity as they explore their surrounds.

The 2-3 year old zone welcomes children to explore different types of play activities, further developing their physical, cognitive and sensory abilities as the move around the space and through simple play and drawing.

Most likely to interact with others as they play, the zone for children aged 3 years and over includes larger play themes. Their development needs will be met as they play in the dry creek, climb through the tunnel, play on the slide, create new worlds in the sandpit and develop their balance (and hunt for lizards) in the log play area. This zone also has a large open area in front of the building, which allows for flexible curriculum activities and movable play items.
